Our editorial policy

Welcome to CalcoPolis! Our goal is simple: create clear, reliable tools and guides that help you make smarter decisions without wading through complicated math. This page explains how we create, review, and update our content.

Who does what?

  • Lucas — Founder & Lead Engineer. Designs calculator logic, builds the product, and keeps the platform fast and stable.
  • Mike — Accounting & Valuation Lead (CPA). Reviews financial methodology, checks formulas and edge cases in business/investing tools.
  • Maja — Banking & Content Reviewer (M.Econ). Ensures plain-language clarity, tests real-world scenarios, and keeps explanations friendly for beginners.

How our content is created

  1. Draft & data — We start with a clear problem to solve and documented formulas (with sources).
  2. Calculator engine — Lucas implements the math with tests for numerical stability and edge cases.
  3. First pass edit — We write the guide that explains inputs, outputs, assumptions, and examples.

Independent review

  • Financial review (Mike) — validates methodology (e.g., ROIC/ROE/ROA, WACC, cash-flow), checks units, and signs off on assumptions.
  • Clarity review (Maja) — simplifies language, adds beginner tips, and verifies real-life usability.

Nothing goes live without at least one independent review. High-impact finance tools are reviewed by both Mike and Maja.

Updates & maintenance

  • Last updated dates appear on every page.
  • Annual re-check — finance calculators are re-validated at least once per year, or sooner if standards change.
  • Bug fixes — critical issues are addressed as soon as possible.

Sources & transparency

  • We cite reputable references (textbooks, regulators, well-known finance resources) where applicable.
  • Each calculator has a brief How we calculate or Methodology note if the topic warrants it.
  • When simplifications are used, we state them clearly.

Corrections

If you spot an error or something unclear, please tell us — we take it seriously.

Report an issue · We aim to review feedback within 48 hours.

Independence & conflicts

  • Our tools and articles are written independently. If we ever include affiliate links or sponsored content, we will label it.
  • We do not accept payment to change our conclusions.

Privacy

Messages sent via our contact form are reviewed only by our editorial team. We don’t share your data with third parties.
